• The School Board presented a gift and plaudits to Judy Atkins, who retired in June after 35 years of service to the schools.
• Student representative Philip Thomas reported that he had polled 300 students on the subject of school uniforms, and that 23 said they wanted them.
• Third-grade teacher Holly Propst and second-grade teacher Sheila Smith presented the Board with a request to change the form of the third-grade report cards. Propst explained that the two grades have bef n operating as a team, with an emphasis on reading, for the past few years, and that this year, the students are being grouped into eight reading fev:els across grade levels. 'HiiS change has posed a reporting problem that could be corrected by the proposed report card change, she explained, and the Board approved.
