pointed out that the Council had approved $6,000 for drapes and seat cushions, and that the drapes would serve as sound and heat insulators—a need long expressed by the Council and the community. Mayor Willis and Eve Willis further noted that the drapery materials were purchased wholesale for the Town, and that the costs incurred were competitive.
Other activities ’
• Mayor Willis, Charlie Tompkins and Claudia Mitchell spoke about next year’s Independence Day celebration, and of the need to identify organizations and individuals who will take responsibility for the 2002 event. Mr. Tompkins reiterated that RAAC members will not manage the event this year, but that RAAC could serve as the “umbrella” organization.
• Mayor Willis publicly thanked Fawn Evenson for the gifts of an oriental rug and prints that now grace the Town Hall.
• The Mayor noted that “Colonial Christmas” will be held on Dec. 7 through 9, and the Town Christmas party was scheduled for Dec. 16.
• Mayor Willis set up another zoning ordinance work session for Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
