Dr. Henry meets on a regular basis with the team members to cover material relating to potential emergencies. When recent weather reports cited tornadoes in the immediate area, the Crisis Team was briefed and ready to act should the tornadoes move closer to the school. We feel fortunate to have this team in place to help our students, faculty, and staff move forward in the days to come.
• Student Jim Hennessy initiated a money drive to collect spare change at lunchtime for the fire departments involved in the recent tragedies. A giant yellow bucket was placed in the lunchroom every day for two weeks to collect spare change. Through their efforts, and the pockets of all of the students at WCDS, a grand total of $266 was collected to send to the fire departments. Thanks for being good citizens, guys!
• WCDS sports are off to a roaring start this year under the vigilant eyes of our new Athletic Director, Mr. Jim Yates. Mr. Yates, a longtime Rappahannock resident, has three daughters at WCDS, and he has long been an ardent sports fan.
He is currently mentoring Mrs. Susan Bell and Miss Katie Russell in Girls Volleyball, Mr. Tony Lambiasi in Cross Country, and Mr. Ben Clark and Mr. Andy Ebert in Boys Soccer. All three teams have been busy with back to back games.
