Workshop planned The Wayland Blue Ridge Ministers' and Deacons’ Union will sponsor a Deacons and Deaconness workshop on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center, Ryland Chapel Road (Route 640), Rixeyville. The workshop sessions will be led by the National Baptist Deacons Convention of America, Inc. The registration fee is $20 per person and includes materials and lunch. Pre-registration is required for lunch reservations and continues through Nov. 14. Onsite registration is $25 per person. Quarterly meeting plan ned The Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Ushers’ Auxiliary, District No. 1 will hold its quarterly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. with the Hopewell Baptist Church Usher Board in Sperryville. The Rev. Henry Townes is the pastor and Charlotte Johnson is the president. The emphasis is on “Planning the 2002 Calendar.” All ushers are asked to come and support. Uniforms are not required for this meeting.
