Trauma and Loss Specialists in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia, the Crisis Team stepped in immediately on Sept. 11 to counsel students affected by the terrorists’ attack.
Dr. Henry spent a week in Chicago this summer, becoming certified as a Trauma and Loss Specialist. Her team at WCDS consists of Mrs. April Heddleston, Mrs. Emma Sue Amos, Mr. Jim Snyder, and Mr. John McMahon. Students were able to sit and speak quietly with team members concerning their fears and any anxiety they might have of possible future events.
Many of the students were counseled that day, but as the days passed by, more students stepped forward. Team members are always available to the students. As important as counseling is, having the training to understand how to implement procedures to reduce the panic and fear that
