to the gently looming mountains. As pictorial elements they reflect our place in nature- a warmly lit home on a winter evening or a purely functional shed merged with its surroundings from time and weather.
The individual characteristics of each detail - animals, barbed wire, a bountiful apple tree, a particular farmhouse or winter bramble or a gnarled tree- never overpower but enrich the whole.
This aspect of the artist’s painting is felt to be the element that most spiritualizes them.
