design, life drawing, oil painting, a very full curriculum. They are lowering the standards.
RBP: My favorite painting in this show is New Bulls in Buttercups. It has a luminous quality that is almost surrealistic. It’s also the view I see from my front porch every morning of the Miller Farm in Washington. I see the black cows grazing in the green fields and feel that the world is good.
SW: This is the third time I’ve painted the farm. The other two have sold. This painting is looser to some degree. It took me eight hours to paint. I hope the Millers come by to see it.
I urge you all to visit this show which contains many familiar scenes of our county. As an artist I appreciate Wagner’s desire to “paint lovely pictures of beautiful things.” He sincerely wants to communicate this to his audience.
Wagner and Longview Gallery will generously donate ten percent of the proceeds to the American Red Cross and will be designated for the families of the victims of the Pentagon terrorist attack.
The show will continue until Oct. 22. Longview Gallery is located on historic Main Street in Sperryville. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Call 9873121 for more information.
