For a young girl who has gone farther than her doctors ever imagined, there is one thing that would give her freedom—a motorized wheelchair.
Sidney Dodson was bom on May 8, 1999 with cerebral palsy and now, at age six, she is at the mercy of others to push her in the wheelchair that gets her where she wants to go.
However, Sidney recently tried a new gadget that gave her incredible freedom to go where she wants. All she has to do is lean her head back against a sensor on a wheelchair, and she takes off, going forward.
Atilt of the head and she turns left, tilt the opposite direction and she is going right. “The only thing she needs to master is how to stop,” laughed Sidney’s father, Greg Dodson.
