‘pop-up ads’ which advertise everything from pornography to prescription medications for performance enhancement, but they also have access to personal pages and chatrooms.

On the personal pages, anyone can place pictures of themselves, as well as identifying information which would make it very easy for a predator to locate a teen.

As for the chatrooms, even teens can access those, chatting with unknown people and often giving personal information without even realizing what they are revealing.

According to Integrity Online, children from the ages 819 are often accidentally exposed to pornography for the first time while doing homework on the Internet. Statistics on the Website report that a large majority of children surveyed by the group have viewed porn online.

However, only 16 percent of the parents are aware of what their children have seen.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Department of Justice recently released, “Twelve to fifteen year olds are victimized at a rate of 84 percent higher than the general population.”
