On Saturday, May 28 at 8 p.m., the Bucky Pizzarelli Trio returns to the Theatre at Washington, Virginia for another of the popular jazz concerts at that venue. An iconic figure in guitar music and one of the most venerated musicians in jazz today, Bucky Pizzarelli has been at the forefront of the jazz guitar world for more than half a century.
As a teenager, Pizzarelli cut his professional teeth as a member of Vaughn Monroe’s popular dance band, which quickly established him as a solid rhythmic player with an innate sensibility for swing. From this post, Pizzarelli launched a stellar career that would keep him constantly on the stage or in the studio playing and recording with the most recognizable names in jazz, including Benny Goodman, Stephane Grappelli, Zoot Sims, Doc Severinson and Bud Freeman, just to name a few.
