An Orientation Program was held May 19 for incoming eighth graders at Rappahannock County High School. The purpose of the program was to acquaint the students with the layout and various features of the building. After a welcome by Dennis Wingfield, students were taken for a tour of the school. Rhonda Brown, Marion Eastham, Gary Leake, and Denise Wingfield, all outgoing seniors, led the tour, which included the offices, library, gym, cafeteria, shop, science labs, art room and typing room.
May is Mental Health Month and as part of a project to raise public awareness of mental health services, the Rappahannock Clinic in conjunction with the Woman’s Club and local Lion’s Club sponsored a poster contest on “Mental Health is...” Winners from the elementary schools were David Pullen, Donna Foster, Bick Ann Roemer, John Wayland, David Fishbein, Heather Blevin and Bobby Ludwick.
Fifty-one students from Wakefield School’s fourth, fifth, and sixth grades visited Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Travelling by Amtrak from Washington, D.C., the students arrived in the city in time for a five hour historical tour which
