Mayor Gena Leggett is very proud these days — and rightfully so.
, During an awards recognition dinner held on May 17, the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue was named the regional 2005 Outstanding EMS Agency.
“I’m more than kind of proud,” said Leggett. “I’m stunned.”
“This is a significant award,” chimed in chief Ann Spieker. “We’re delighted.”
The award, given by the Rappahannock EMS Council, Inc., is a feather in Rappahannock County’s cap as they were selected from along all the agencies of the Rappahannock EMS region which includes the Counties of Caroline, Culpeper, Fauquier, Ring George', Orange, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Rappahannock, the Town of Colonial Beach and the City of Fredericksburg. “Like a good neighbor,”

Upon presentation of the 2005 Outstanding EMS Agency award, Rappahannock County was recognized for their dedication not just to their rural community in Rappahannock County, but to their surrounding neighbors as well.
