The Rappahannock County Garden Club met at the county recreation center on May 21, for a plant exchange and picnic lunch. Garden Club members had previously put in a hard morning’s work removing sod and weeds from around the trees and ground cover they had planted at the center, and placing mulch around the trees. Recreation committee members had mowed the grass and cleaned out the fireplaces. Garden Club members hope that other groups will enjoy using the recreation center and that they will help to keep the center clean.
Paul F. Wiley of Amissville recently won the honorary title of “colonel” by completing a two-week, 130-hour course from the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, North Carolina. As part of his training, Wiley conducted two auction sales at the school and passed the state of North Carolina’s auctioneering exam.
