Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue squad for the past two years, credited Roger Roach for being a strong catalyst for much of the work that she is carrying on.
“Roger put many of the programs that we have today in motion,” said Spieker.
Leggett additionally praised Spieker for extending the role of the EMS.
“Ann has gone beyond...caring for the families as well as the patient in times of emergency,” noted Leggett who said they receive some 400 emergency calls a year with a large percentage being “advanced life support” calls meaning the victim has stopped breathing, is having a heart attack, or is in dire need of assistance.
Spieker is anxious to get another emergency vehicle to replace one of their current fleet of two.
“We’ve got some fundraising going on,” stressed Spieker who noted that they need to raise over $70,000 by November.
Spieker cradled the distinctive plaque gently.
“We’re going to find a special place to hang it. This is a major award. We’re very proud.”
