John Sharpies, a physical education and health teacher with Loudoun County Public Schools, will serve as head coach for the women’s soccer team. Sharpies, a Winchester resident, is currently in his third year as assistant boy’s soccer coach at John Handley High School in Winchester. Last year the team reached the Group AA semifinals. His other high school coaching credits include a stint at Martinsville High School Where he led the varsity boys’ soccer team to the Group AA state championship game. He was also named Piedmont District Coach of the Year in 1997. Sharpies also took the reigns of the girls’ soccer program at Broad Run High School and brought home the 2001 Group AA state championship.
