Married Lois Doran in 1943 and they have five children and 12 grandchildren. Completed law school and four years in Navy. Returned to Washington, Va. in 1945 and has been Circuit Court judge there since 1953. Retired in 1980 but is recalled to court and does arbitration and mediation.
Favorite teacher was Gaylord Gibson.
