The Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department has become aware of possible scam artists operating in the county. On September 19, a complainant informed RCSD Deputy Breeden that two adult Caucasian men had come to his house on Ben Venue road and asked for his social security number. The men told the complainant that with his social security number they could arrange for him to receive a check for $80 a month. The men asked several questions concerning the dimensions of the complainant’s house. The men also offered the complainant a free rug and a free checkup from a nurse.
