construction of the new church in 1816. According to some accounts, the new structure was built in the shape of a cross.
This building was enlarged in 1833 to make room for the church’s congregation, which had grown to almost 250 members.
After the Civil War, the church fell into disrepair and its upkeep was beyond the financial means of the congregation. The building was finally torn down.
By 1884, however, the church’s fortunes had turned around, and the minutes of the Shiloh Association mention that the F.T. Valley Baptist congregation had nearly completed their new house of worship.
The new church’s pews were formed from one poplar tree, which was carried to the lumber mill by Charles S. Mitchell. Joseph Lewis Yowell donated the walnut wood which became the new church’s Duloit and pedestals. The new addition added
