Joseph Trinh saw his people for the first time since the storm, prayed with them, comforted them. A more moving worship service cannot be imagined. Fr. Trinh allowed me about 15 minutes at the end of Mass to explain our mission to help them anyway we could. This was met with enormous appreciation and thanks.
After Mass, a woman came up to Fr. Trinh. “I have bad news, Father,” she said. “My husband is dead.” Tearfully, she explained that the family survived the storm, and while she and her two children were away staying at relatives, her husband returned to their property to clear trees downed by the storm. Working alone, he was killed weilding his chainsaw, as a tree fell on him.
She is now a homeless, jobless, hopeless widow with two small children and no husband, and no idea what to do.
