“Let’s Not Pave the Shenandoah Valley”
Jim Blubaugh, candidate for the 15th District House of Delegates,recently blasted the plans to turn Interstate 81 into a vast truck corridor, saying “Let’s not pave the Shenandoah Valley”.
Blubaugh denounced plans to add traffic, noise and pollution, pointing out that the STAR Solutions plan is opposed with virtual unanimity from Winchester to Bristol. “It is clearly a plan to provide a truck alternative to 1-95, and it would forever change the Valley,” said Blubaugh.
Noting that the plan calls for 20-foot high sound walls in places, Blubaugh asked, “Is this all that we can come up with - more and more highway construction?” The STAR
