“He has nothing in his history or background that would suggest any violent activity,” Howard said.
“People who commit robberies of liquor stores are desperate people, either homeless and out of work or doing drugs,” he said. “Hunt’s not homeless, he’s not out of work. ... It just makes no sense.”
The incident
Harris, who is the executive director of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center in Sperryville and a former tennis pro at Chestnut Forks Athletic Club in Warrenton, was accused of a robbery that took place at a Virginia ABC liquor store on Oct. 26 in Fredericksburg.
According to the Virginia ABC public affairs office, a white male entered the store in the Four-Mile Fork Shopping Center at about 8:15 p.m., wearing a mask and holding a black rifle bag that appeared to contain a firearm. The man reportedly approached the store’s clerk and demanded all the cash in the register.
According to ABC, the clerk made “visual contact” with the robber before he entered the store. Details of the interaction were not released.
Following the robbery, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office had the FBI create a composite sketch of the suspect and distributed
