Compton started a guitarbuilding business seven years ago and now has a workshop in Amissville. The Alexandria resident said he is planning to move to Sperryville to run the store, which will likely open in May or June.
Compton said running a guitar shop has been his dream for several years.
“[Building guitars] started as a side project, amateur thing, and Fd like to make it full time,” he said.
Compton said the cafe will feature wireless Internet service, so pebple can bring their laptops into the shop and log onto the Web. He is also planning to offer a few computers for public use.
A native of Prince William County, Compton said he has come to know Rappahannock County in the past year as his parents have been building a house in Amissville.
Compton said he looked at a few buildings in the Culpeper area, but Rappahannock’s rural beauty drew him to Spenyville.
The structure, which was built as an Episcopal church in 1902, went under contract in October and the sale was finalized Jan. 16.
