The latest word on the new community and economic development block grants sounds good, at least as far as funding for Sperryville’s long-delayed sewage disposal system is concerned.
The Governor's Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) on block grants spent hours in discussion of sewage treatment facilities since so many of the state’s communities are under EPA mandates to clean up their water, noted John Capelle, executive director of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission which sponsored last Friday’s block grant workshop. PAC ruled that block grant funds can be used as local match for EPA money, he said.
