First of nine events was the Homer C. LeHew turf race which was split. Winners of both divisions were the horses owned and trained by Dr. William Wright which won the flat races at Casanova last week.
In the first division Toinette Jackson again piloted Timbuktu, bringing him from off the pace to make a run down the stretch catching William Russell’s Pauli's Cloud, Don Yovanovich up, at the wire. Third was Yovanovich's Bagdads, ridden by Hilary Thompson.
Eastern Pageant and Saludo broke on top of the 11 starters in the second division, but again Double Recipe came from behind under a strong ride by Jackson, with Hilary Thompson on Eastern Pageant driving hard to hold her off.
It was Double Recipe the winner, with New Hope Farm's Eastern Pageant a close second followed by Mary Pearson’s Hail to
