The zoning map is in essence "just a copy of an old tax map that they colored in." Konick continued. The purpose of a tax map is to give the commissioner of revenue a “general idea” of where a piece of property is located and what the surrounding uses are.
"It’s not intended to be a correct representation of actual boundaries," he said, noting that the tax map includes numerous inaccuracies.
