Mrs. Edith Laura Wharton, 91, of Orange, formerly of Rappahannock County, died Sunday, March 7, 1982, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rodie Wilson in Orange.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Preddy Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Lester Smith. Burial was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Wharton was the daughter of the late Douglas and Mary Dodson, and a member of the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville. Her husband was the late Amon Brown Wharton.
In addition to Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Wharton is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Mary Martin and Mrs. Corine Menefee, both of Culpeper; a son, Kinsey Brown Wharton of Rappahannock; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Petty of Culpeper and Mrs. Ezzer Atkins of Washington, D. C.; 14 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.
