In a cafeteria report, superintendent Robert Estabrook noted that the school lunch program is operating in the red for the second month in a row. with cash receipts running total of $268 less than bills.
According to the superintendent, approximately 43 percent of the students are buying lunch with a further break-down of 63 percent participation at the elementary school and only 28 percent at the high school.
Estabrook presented the board with proposals for clarifying and compiling the school policy manual submitted by a private firm and a school board association consultant. The superintendent and board members noted a wide discrepancy in price between the two bids but mentioned only one figure of $3,750, apparently the lower offer from the school board association consultant. In his recommendation that the $3,750 bid be accepted, Estabrook noted that
