Judge Shore Robertson called his own witness to the stand in circuit court on Monday, checking on jail facilities before sentencing Donald Jenkins to three years in the penitentiary for shooting into an occupied motor vehicle.
Robertson asked count) sheriff W.A. Buntin where Jenkins would be held if he were to be incarcerated locally.
“I’m not sure yet. We have no stable location." Buntin replied. “I’d have to call the area jails to see who would be able to take him." the sheriff said, adding that this has been the case since March when Fauquier County cancelled its agreement to hold Rappahannock prisoners.
Just before a jury trial was scheduled to get underway last May 20, Jenkins changed a "not guilty" plea to "guilty" on charges of shooting into a motor vehicle.
