turned down a claim for a slain sheep. The sheep, owned by Walter Horton of Red Oak Mountain, was reportedly killed by a dog. Dog Warden Jack Bruce denied that a dog could have done the extensive damage, maintaining that a bear was the killer.
Rappahannock’s Board of Supervisors also granted an exception to the subdivision ordinance following several requests. The Washington Fire Company, which has two prospective buyers, made the request to divide a tract of land into three parcels. The company will sell two and keep one to use for their carnival grounds.
Three Rappahannock County girls participated in an All-Comers track and field meet in Winchester. Laverne Summers and Ruby Faye Dunn, both of Washington and both inexperienced in track, logged a total of six wins. Sharon Foster of Flint Hill ran hurdles and the 50 yard dash and placed first in both events.
