Julie Burke is singing her way to stardom.
The pert, vivacious 15year-old has been chosen as an all-state act to perform with Virginia's Young Dominions after competition at 4-H Congress held at VP1 from June 21-25.
Julie sang “Wouldn't It Be Loverly?” from “My Fair Lady" before an audience of 3,000 at Tech’s Buruss Hall. "It was my biggest audience ever." she reported.
Was she scared? “No, not at all," said the RCHS sophomore who is more at home on the stage than most teenage misses are on the telephone.
To get to the state finals of 4-H Share-The-Fun. Julie first won at the county level and then was one of two contestants selected to go on from district competition. “I didn’t even think I'd make it past county. I was still relaxed and laughing at the district show. There were 30 of us and I really didn't think I had a chance so I went at it in a light way.”
