Park Visits

Travel to Shenandoah National Park continues to decline, according to statistics released by the park for June, 1982.

For calendar year 1982 the decrease, is 11 percent, compared with the previous year, dropping from 677,100 to 602,500.

For June, 1982, compared with the same month in 1981, the decrease is 2.18 percent, with the number of travelers visiting the park slipping from 210,600 to 206,000.

Overnight stays at the park declined from 65,845 in June, 1981, to 63,444 in June, 1982.

Readings at the Big Meadows weather station give the maximum temperature for June as 78 degrees, the minimum 45 degrees and precipitation 5.88 inches.
