acted on a
request from the County Extension Agent, Rap Owings, and asked Virginia Governor Mills Godwin to declare the state of emergency in Virginia because of the most severe drought in nearly a half century. The county's hay cuttings were down by 50 percent apd more than likely there will not be a second cutting of hay. The result of this is that many farmers have reduced the number of cows in each herd because of lack of feed.
