Sam Clifton and Ken Ritvo of Solar Design Services in Washington have completed design work for the new facility on a volunteer basis, saving Sursum Corda thousands of dollars, according to Harris.
In addition, she said, several individuals and foundations have expressed interest in helping to fund the building program while volunteer donations also have been promised by stone masons for foundation work and landowners for timber for the building.
Harris said the new 5,000 square foot facility will probably cost between $250,000 and $300,000. Plans call for $100,000 to be raised locally.
"We hope to get money from the state (through the block grant program) toward the $200,000 balance," the director of the non-profit day care center added.
In response to a question from supervisor chairman Dick Latham, Harris said gnerally 55 children are enrolled full or part-time at Sursum Corda in any given week with an additional 35 served through educational enrichment, tutoring and speech therapy programs.
"We're licensed for 30 children per day full-time,” Harris noted. "However, we’re now turning down students because we have no room.
