With King favorably impressed by the need and feasibility of the project. Askew had his traffic engineers evaluate the situation and they determined that traffic volume in front of the school justified both right and left turn lanes. The project was forwarded to Richmond and the response was that 5100,000 would be provided if the school board donated the right-of-way needed for the improvements. Askew reported.

When completed, the road section in front of RCHS will have three lanes with the middle lane a turning lane delineated by signs and by white lines painted on the highway, he explained. The additional 12-foot lane will provide for left turns into the parking area as well as left turns into the driveway by school buses, he said.
