Burke

Funeral services for Charles C. Burke, 79, of Washington were conducted Saturday at the Washington Baptist Church by the Rev. Steven Scoggin, Rev. John Burke and Rev. James Burke. Burial was in the Washington Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Burke died Tuesday, July 6, 1982, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. He was born October 27, 1902, in Washington, son of Charles Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke. He was a member of the Oakley Baptist Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mary Ellen Jenkins Burke; three sons, Cletus Burke of Front Royal, Ashton Burke of Warrenton and Jennings Burke of Alexandria; two daughters, Hilda E. Metzger of Lorton and Pauline Hershey of Bristol, Pa.; two brothers, Isaiah Burke of Berryville and Winston Burke of Washington; one sister, Ora Christaldi of Linden, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The grandsons served as the pallbearers.
