An innovative van leasing program has been developed by the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation.

The Virginia Van Plan, which involves no public funds, is designed to promote and encourage ridesharing throughout the state, according to Mrs. Sally H. Cooper, the department’s director of public transportation. The Van Plan will be available to both employers and individuals statewide.

Interested individuals or companies will be able to lease a current model luxury van at a competitive rate which will include all operating expenses, insurance, maintenance, gasoline, oil, and tires.

Two plans are offered under the overall leasing arrangements. One plan permits a short-term lease which is a month-by-month arrangement and can be terminated with 30 days notice.
