The Panthers won the afternoon in the final innings. “Our guys looked asleep at the start. They weren't talking to each other and just stood around in the field," Dawson said. “But once they got a few runs, they began hitting to the right off Brentsville’s left-handed pitcher. He’s one of the best in the district. He’s fast with a good curve ball. He managed to strike out eight Rapp batters,” Dawson noted. “But we started talking and we came awake. It was a real team effort.”
The two wins bring the Panthers’ record in the district to 4-5. They are behind Manassas Park and George Mason who are tied for first, and Stonewall and Strasburg, tied for second.
The Panthers face Manassas Park in an away game on May 6 and then return home next Tuesday, May 10, to take on Stonewall.
