1 he hit* ol a stray nog in Rappahannock County and the work of the warden who is responsible for the animals hasn’t been easy, the lot of both should improve, however, as the result of appropriations endorsed on Monday by the supervisors for 1982-H4. 1 “I’m sure all of you all are aware of my needs,” said warden Jack Bruce, as a preface to explaining his budget request.
“We’ve got all the sympathy in the world,” answered chairman J.R. Latham.
“You’ve had that for some time but it hasn’t gotten me far,” Bruce countered, announcing that he needed a facility to care for strays and a disposal site for dead dogs by July 1.
“In nearly 25 years, this county has spent less than $50 on a facility for stray dogs,” Bruce recalled. “The county furnished the wire and staples (for the outdoor pens behind the warden’s house). I furnished the lumber, the posts and everything else.”
