Choral Society Performs
The Choral Society of Culpeper will present its 15th Annual Spring Concert on Thursday, May 12, 8 p.m. at the Culpeper Baptist Church, Ml8 S. West St.
Music of twelve composers will be sung accompanied by several instrumentalists and organist Dorothy Jones. The program includes the Haydn “Missa Brevis”, sacred and madrigal music of other early composers, beloved songs of Gilbert & Sullivan, Stephen Foster and a medley from Gershwin’s “Porgy & Bess”. Herbs Galore
The Goose Creek Herb Guild will hold its annual plant sale on Thursday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Middleburg Community Center on Rt. 50, Middleburg, Va.
The sale is an opportunity for the beginning herb gardner or the seasoned veteran to choose from about 150 varieties of herbs ranging from the popular to the not so well known.
The guild will have about 2,000 plants for sale, including a wide variety of thyme (English, German, silver and lemon), 20 varieties of scented geraniums, sweet bay laurel, artemesia, dittany of crete, yarrow, rue and many more.
This year the guild will also offer about 30 flowers suitable for the herb garden which include bachelor’s buttons, bergamot, bleeding heart, lily-of-the-valley and rose moss.
