“Let’s hold it at 48 cents. It's easier to go down than up,” Estes said, noting that the supervisors must re-advertise the 1983-84 rate if it s raised after the hearing on the entire county budget, set for June 6.

The 48 cent levy was unanimously approved for advertisement with the budget synopsis.
