With the building fund drive, for the new child care and learning center, Sursum Corda is making a valiant effort to fulfill its commitment to Rappahannock families. The undertaking is enormous: to raise at least $50,000 locally for a modem structure that will provide care and instruction for at least sixty children and serve as a center for after-school, senior citizen, handicapped and enrichment programs.
Lois Manookian, coordinator of the drive, feels that the school has a fighting chance to reach its goal. “It’s either that or close the doors,” she said. Manookian is encouraged by funds raised so far and by the caliber of the people who form the honorary steering committee:
