a lease commitment of 50 months on a new van. In return for the 50-month commitment, the lessee will have first option at the end of the lease to purchase the vehicle at 20 per cent of its original cost.
No state or federal funds are involved in the program. The department, through its public transportation division, is serving as a broker for the van leasing company.
Companies or individuals interested in organizing a van pool are eligible for the lease arrangement and should call the ride-share coordinator or public transit manager in their area.
