Hitting their stride as they begin the final lap of track season, gearing up for district, regional and state competition, Rappahannock’s girls and boys teams extended their string of wins with double victories in two tri-meets last week.

“This is the best season our boys have ever had,” reported coach Ann Speiker. “They’re 8-2 for the year, maybe even 9-1. We have to check with Strasburg. One of their kids told us they’ve been disqualified because they had a boy competing in too many events.”

And the girls are again at the top of district standings with an 8-1 record, the coach noted.

“Just one word — fantastic!” was coach Monty Saunders' description of performances last Wednesday at the home tri-meet with Page and Strasburg. “We avenged our earlier loss to Strasburg in the season opener. I’m very pleased with the effort and team cooperation our boys have shown.”
