At 7 a.m. Saturday, August 20, thousands of fishermen will take to the Mountain Run Lake Park in Culpeper, for the WKCW $20,000 Kat-Fish-A-Thon.
The contest is open to any liscensed fisher person who is registered for the contest and displays for the contest judges the live cat fish with the special “709” tag before 7:30 p.m. that day. There will be no entry fee but proper Culpeper town fishing and boating permits must be obtained during normal business hours at the Culpeper town office building or town Police department prior to the contest.
Contestants may use only rod and reel or onehook hand lines. No drag, trolling seine or similar nets may be used. No commercial boats or boats with gasoline engines will be permitted. Lake rules also state that no swimming or bathing in the lake is allowed and no pets or other domestic animals will be permitted to run at
