Bluegrass Festival
Advance sale tickets for the Apple Harvest Music Festival are now on sale. Doc Watson, Norman and Nancy Blake and The Country Gentlemen highlight the event to be held September 16 and 17 on the Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music campus in Winchester.
The two-day festival features a bluegrass band contest Friday, September 16, from 7:00-11:00 p.m. Three top bluegrass bands selected through preliminary contests will join selected non-local bands to compete for a $300 contract to perform on Saturday’s program.
Saturday, bluegrass lovers from the entire midAtlantic region are expected to bring their blankets and lawnchairs and spend the day listening to the music of Watson, Blake and The Country Gentlemen.
The Festival will be held in conjunction with the Winchester Rotary Club Apple Harvest Arts and Crafts "Festival, September 17-18, in the City Recreation Park adjoining the college campus.
A two-day advance sale ticket includes all the weekend’s activities for $12. In the event of rain the festival will be held in the Handley High School Auditorium and only advance-sale ticketholders will be seated. Single admission tickets will be sold at the gate at $4, for the Friday night bluegrass band contest and $10 for Saturday’s performances.
