Basically, changes made to the original ordinance eliminate towers from the list of permitted structures and restrict lines to those carrying power to the town of Washington and the immediate vicinity.
The council ran into time restrictions in scheduling a public hearing on the ordinance and the opening of bids on the service outlined in the ordinance, once accepted.
State law requires two successive weeks of advertisement before a public hearing and four weeks for invitation for submission of bids. Both need to be done by September.
Poffenburger argued that both could be accomplished in one advertisement. “We’ve done this in Madison and , in Stanardsville,” he said.
