Each contestant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Contest entry rules and forms are available at many participating sponsor stores.
“Oscar,” the prize cat fish, was acquired under the supervision of the Virginia State Game and Fish Commission for the August 20 fishing contest. Oscar’s where-a-bouts is kept secret but will be released by a Commission Game Warden prior to the contest. The fish will display a specially constructed identification tag that must remain intact and on the fish when it is presented to the judges. Remember, Oscar must be presented alive, so he can continue to enjoy himself after the contest ends.
Other special prizes will a!lso be awarded the day of the contest, including an award for the largest cat fish caught that day. Mountain Run Lake Park is located on Rt. 718 off Rt. 29 south.
