Rappahannock County Library has been invited to send its young readers to Richmond for a Summer Reading Festival on Tuesday, August 9th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Festival activities will be full of fun and surprises, and will include a picnic lunch and entertainment.
This celebration will be held to honor the 30,000 children and many librarians who participated in a statewide summer reading program coordinated by the Virginia State Library.
This is the second year that libraries in Virginia have conducted a statewide summer reading program to help children discover the adventure of reading and to continue the development of their reading skills for the next school year. The 1983 program theme is “Step into the Unknown...Read Your Way Home.”
