EMS Dinner Meeting
The Rappahannock-Rapidan EMS Council will hold it's fifth annual meeting on Tuesday evening, July 26, at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria.
The price of $15 per person covers social and an all-you-can eat buffet of country ham and roast beef. The guest speaker will be Dr. Martin Eichelberger, a Pediatric Trauma Specialist at Children’s Hospital in Washington, D.C. The newest U.S. Park Police helicopter used for evacuation of critically ill and injured patients will be on display. The event begins at 6 p.m.

Farmers Meet
The summer meeting of the Virginia Association of Biological Farmers will be held Saturday, July 23, at Innisfree Village in Crozet, 17 miles west of Charlottesville.
The program includes two films on acid rain produced by the Canadian Film Board and a discussion of biodynamic farming.
The public is invited to the session which will run from 9 to 4. Participants should bring a picnic lunch and a blanket or chair for seating. For additional information, call Susan Kasser at 937-5760 or 937-5164.
Diner
This week’s film at the Gay Street Theater in Washington is Diner, a very funny film marking the directional debut of screenwriter Barry Levinson.
Diner is set in Baltimore in 1959, an era far away enough now to be nostalgic. Young men in their early twenties meet in a diner and the relationship between them and the young women in their lives provides the theme for this highly personal film. The movie, sponsored by RAAC, "will be shown at 8:00 Saturday and 7:00 Sunday nights.
8th Virginia Wine
Festival August 27th
The 8th Annual Virginia Wine Festival and Vineyard Tour — the oldest continuous wine festival in the U.S. — will be held Saturday, August 27th in the Middleburg, Virginia area.
A record crowd is espected to tour five commercial and home vineyards, and attend the 12th» Annual Wine growing seminar which will feature leading viticulture and enology speakers.
Wine competitions, free wine, grape stompin’ contest, jousting, arts, crafts, music will also be featured.
The Festival benefits the non-profit, taxexempt Vinifera Wine Growers Association and its 72-page quarterly Journal. The organization offers free assistance to both home and commercial interests in premium table winegrowing and winemaking.
Admission is $7.50, with a reduction to $6 for advanced ticket purchasers, P.O. Box 1120, in Middleburg. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The Festival is held the last Saturday in August each year when the grapes are in their prime just before harvest.
Music Festival
On Thursday night, July 28, the Shenandoah Valley music festival will present an evening with the Fairfax symphony orchestra at Orkney Springs. The evening’s program is a sampler of classical favorites which includes works by Faure, Brahms, Strauss, Smetana, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. at Orkney Springs. For information call 459-3396.
Dodson Reunion
The families of the late Ernest and Neva Nicholson Dodson will hold their annual reunion on Sunday, July 31 at Rappahannock County Park near Washington beginning at 12 noon.
All family members and friends are invited to attend and asked to bring a picnic lunch.
