State Trooper Gordon Cooper reported that Carl Thomas Gall of Charlottesville was westbound on Route 211 in a 1983 Saab turbo 900 at a high rate of speed when he ran off the right shoulder on the road, crossed back to the left side, hit several fence posts and an embankment and flipped over in the air four times before landing on all four wheels.
The $16,000 car, just a month out of the show room, sustained approximately $8,000 worth of damage. Designed with a roll cage built in, it’s interior was intact, according to Cooper.
